For Merilee:

In my reference books, magnesium sulfate is considered compatible with
breastfeeding; it is usually other drugs (sedatives that might accumulate in
baby's system) that are then used that ask for delay in breastfeeding, or
the state of the mother. The doctors usually want the mother kept almost in
isolation, in a dark room and without any kind of stimulation whatsoever for
a while. Most reference breastfeeding books discuss this in length, you
might want to look in Ruth Lawrence's book or in Auerbach and Riordan's
Human Lactation.
