Chris: The More Milk people have a protocol that you can follow. I recommend
you call them. This will also serve to CYA in teh process of using it. I have
found that the More Milk works well when given in the doses recommended by
them, but I have had babies become fussy. I am leary of using botanicals only
because they do come through themilk and can have some serious consequences to
the baby. I think we need more research. What troubles me more is the
propensity for people to use the "pill" to make it all better when often all
they have to so is pump more often or change equipemtn or do some massage. in
my long career, I have only used a galactogogue three times. Once for an
adopting mom, once for a mom with reduction mammoplasty, and once for a mom
who appeared to have insufficient glandular tissue on one side and wanted to
take a mojic potion. All other times when milk supply has been an issue,
pumping more regularly with better technique and better equipment has fixed
the problem.

I think there is a place for potions but I think we also need to exhaust good
management first before we add in another intervention that may have negative
consequences for the recipient.

OK. Off my soapbox now!

Alison
