I would like to post this situation to learn how other LCs handle
this type of problem. Recognizing that there is more than one way to
accomplish the goal I am also interested in seeing which way would be
used most often and getting new ideas.
Situation - 4 day old baby, baby was 8'4" at birth, now weighs
7'12" - has not really latched on well since birth, would latch on and
suck few times and fall off. Suck assessment showed lazy nurser who
won't latch on real well to anything at this point. Mother has only
pumped a few times with G------ pump. Milk has not come in as of yet.
Baby has been given sugar water and pacifier.
        Options:
        1. Use sugar water in syringe or SNS to attempt finger feeding
and latch on.
        2. Use ABM in syrine or SNS to attempt finger feeding and latch
on.
        3. Have mother use pump in office so can use colostrum in syrine
or SNS to attempt finger feeding and latch on.
        4. Other options?
        TIA for your input.
