Dear Susan,

All I want to find is the research that would show that the use of oral rehydration salts (ORS) in breastfed children is justified. I want to see that there were groups of children who were *continuously* breastfed throughout the diarrhea episode and groups of children whose mothers gave them ORS and *continued* breastfeeding (note the order of interventions wit the emphasis on ORS as number one strategy as well as the connotation of merely continuing breastfeeding as opposed to significant increase in breastfeeding to the point of non-stop continuous breastfeeding). I want to see if there was a difference in outcomes in groups without dehydration and mild to medium dehydration.

The current wording of "continue breastfeeding", "don't stop breastfeeding", or "give ORS and also breastmilk, carrot soup, or rice water" does not show how important *continuous* breastfeeding is as the primary measure of therapy during sickness.

All the other issues can be discussed separately as I know that they are leading us away from what I am looking for at this time. I cannot locate any research that would say, yes, ORS makes statistically significant difference during diarrhea management of children with exclusive to significant breastfeeding. If you happen to come across such research, or perhaps, if your colleagues who work with this issues know of such research, I would really appreciate if you can let me and all of us know of such evidence.
