Dear Ruth

Interesting how books on farm life graphically depict animals eating
naturally and no one gets disturbed.... Reminds me of the olden days when I
was a chilren's librarian (I seem to change career directions every 5
years.....) When Maurice Sendak's "In the Night Kitchen" was published, a
lot of librarians were covering up the little boy's penis by drawing clothing
over it, etc. The system I worked in did nothing of the kind. We did keep
some "sensational" books like the sex books for children in the back room
(this was the early 70s). Now-a-days they (the books, not the librarians)
 are all on the shelves.

Someday, I'll tell you all the neat stuff I learned at the library, like how
they get semen from bulls for artificial insemination (maybe now they have a
different way, but it sure was interesting!)
