Dear Ellen,

If the peds practice is recommending Babywise as a Christian practice, I
would be very cautious about mentioning attachment parenting or the Sears
*at this point*. I have found it most effective to deal with the
*authority* behind his recommendations first. For most evangelical
Christians, the fact that the Ezzos have been excommunicated from several
churches is deeply disquieting (an evangelical church going to this extreme
is unusual to the point of shocking). Added to the comments made by John
MacArthur (a very widely respected pastor) and the analysis by CRI
(Christian Research Institute - a well-respected watchdog group), the
evidence is there to make any serious Christian reexamine Ezzo's claim to
Biblical authority. These statements are all on http://www.ezzo.info

Ezzo so over-prepares his followers for criticism, that if you approach them
in expected ways, they just write you off as "one of them". By dealing with
the root of the problem, Biblical authority (or not!), well-intentioned
folks will often wake up :-)

Hope that helps--
