I have been so very disappointed with ASPO/Lamaze and their magazine and
video. I took a look at this year's version of the video and while I find it
less obnoxious than the last one, it still really, really irritates me to
have all that advertising. If I want ads, I'll watch TV (which I seldom do
because the ads make me crazy). There were some great segments in the video
that I'd love to have for a parenting class (e.g, the one on bathing), but
when it's coupled with the soap ad, I can't stomach that. I really don't
like using any commercial materials.

Several years ago the local childbirth education association wrote Lamaze (I
wrote the letter, I confess) and told them the association would not
distribute the magazines or videos because they contravened the WHO Code and
because of the other advertising. They probably need a lot more feedback
like that. The association also mentioned that they'd be happy to purchase
some of the material, sans ads. Never heard back as far as I know.
