It would be great if we could be so selective (only submit to mags that
don't have formula ads), but as Ellen pointed out, those are few and far
between except for ones like Mothering and Compleate Mother which to
some are definitely not "mainstream" publications.  (Personally, I love
them, but I know too many HCPs who reject them as "extreme".)
I do feel it is different than writing for a publication that is
sponsored, backed, funded by the formula companies.  The test is whether
they will "let" you speak freely about risks of formula and their
marketing techniques.  If they censor these areas, then we probably
should not write for them, but if these areas are open for comment, I
would feel comfortable with it.  I would recommend trying to have right
of final refusal after any final editing is done.  Not sure how many
publishers will go for that, however.
