Just a word of caution concerning the protocol found on asklenore.com. I
find that many have a false sense that this is almost guaranteed to
insure a full supply and from my experience (group has averaged 250
members for the last 5 years) it does not do this. I do reference this
protocol in my introductory information as well as all the other ways to
induce lactation. I try to give as many options so that everyone can
choose the option most suited to them. I feel that the asklenore.com
site promotes the protocol and doesnt neccessarily prepare one for the
possibility that it may not be their best option and may not work for
them.
Everyone has a different experience. Some produce small amounts, some a
half supply and some nearly or a full supply. Even in a full supply,
relactation takes a longer time to reach that supply than a biological
mom. I found that when I reached out for information from the
asklenore.com site, once having been on the protocol and not had good
results, I was led to believe that there were either something wrong with
me, how I pumped or with my pump itself etc. I tried different pumps,
repeated the protocol and clearly came to the conclusion that my body
will provide milk but not a full supply and perhaps not even a half
supply. I am now at ease with this but many may feel this is a failure
of themselves and if they have experienced losses with infertility or
such, this may be yet another difficult issue. If you are referring
someone to this site, I would offer a word of caution about the protocol.
