I want to thank everyone for their .02 on Vit K and possible links to
leukemia. Obviously, I haven't yet read the studies which state there
is no link. I will look for these. Still, I wonder about giving the Vit
k. Dr. Jack and fellow lactnetters have brought up valid points, but if
it was meant to be there at birth wouldn't it? Are we tinkering with
something we shouldn't. Grant it, there are babies who will need the
shot, and my questions now go beyond what we discuss on Lactnet, so I
will end here----just adding my experience while I am at it. :D

My first was born at a freestanding birthing center. She had the Vit k
and ointment. I did not question either at the time; however Gabbie
never left my arms from the moment she was born. All medical attention
was performed while she was in bed with me, so bonding was never
interrupted. My second and third were born at home---no ointment or Vit
K.

Thanks again for giving me more to ponder as always when I read the
Lactnet digests.

Aloha,
Gloria Thai LLLLeader Hawai'i
