This was interesting for me, would appreciate your thoughts.
A social worker from an area hospital called tonight, angry about how a=20
mother was being treated. Briefly the situation. Baby born 2.5 weeks=20
ago, mother tested positive for cocaine, baby sent to foster care. Third=
=20
baby, mom wants to breastfeed, states she will stop using (I know the=20
high suspicion level here) She was sent home with a double pump set up=20
and instructed on pumping=FBping and freezing until it was determined if he=
r=20
baby could return to her. Standard court orders permits her 2 visits per=
=20
week, for one hour each. She told the judge she would=FB give random urine=
=20
checks when ever they requested. She continues pumping and freezing =20
The social worker tried to speak to the head of child protective=20
services=FB to see what the policy for breastfeeding was - of course friday=
=20
afternoon and =FBthe subject of breastfeeding and no call was returned.
The social worker feels like the state has and is interfering this womans=
=20
right to establish breastfeeding an=F4=A8d is missing a golden opportunity =
in=20
a mom who is willing to be in treatment and undergo random urine checks. =
=20
The point is do any states CPS divisions have breastfeeding policies? =20
There is no doubt this social worker is a real activist and is ready to=20
make a point of establishing something - while the iron is hot, I would=20
like to strike.
Thanks

(SOrry about the typos, the spell check doesn't see what I see, and I=20
can't go back and correct them without erasing to the error. I'm still=20
learning.)
