The most iron rich food source of which I am aware is blackstrap
mollasses- they must be black strap, not the refined variety. They are
quite reasonable in cost and pretty palatable when stirred into other
drinkable liquids (may take some getting used to)- and supposedly highly
absorbable. Personally, I was severely anemic with two pregnancies using
tablet supplementation- on the third pg, I used black strap mol. and was
within a fine range. I know, case study of one. Some midwives recommend
this in lieu of tablet supplementation in situations where the tablets
are poorly tolerated.
