Ilene,
While I respect your view on this, keep in mind that EBM is far and away
better than formula while mom is away. And if this keeps women
breastfeeding at any point in the day while giving EBM while away that baby
is unbelievably better off than the baby of the mom who totally weaned or
worse yet never started breastfeeding because she had to go back to work or
school. Remember change needs to happen in baby steps. I teach moms to do
whatever they need to do to keep some breastfeeding in their lives as long
as possible. look how far we have come that ads like this are even on tv.
Good luck with your very busy WBW activities.

Here in Southern Maryland I have been busy with WBW as well. I taught a
four hour Breastfeeding Basics and Beyond class ( my basic class and
working nursing mother class rolled into one) for 11moms and 3 dads on
Saturday. It was my best attended class so far. A good sign that the week
would go well. On Tuesday I hosted a 4 hour open house at St. Mary's
Hospital for CEU's featuring 10 different stations that people could browse
through with booths on Healthy People 2000 goals, AAP recommendations,
Pumps, Aids and Devices, Yeast, Milk Volume at different ages, Foremilk
Hindmilk and Letdown, Books for moms and Professionals, highlighted our
outpatient program and had great door prizes and food and balloons. It
was a lot of work but went well. On thursday I have another class at the
Navy Base. It has been really interesting hearing what others are doing
and all the hard work we cram into this week and continue all year long.
