I was thrilled to have gotten a message on my machine to call a
pediatrician who works at a local clinic. It is a rare
treat to actually receive a call from a doctor who wants breastfeeding
information. The thrill was short-lived though. The conversation went
something like this:

Dr. A: I'm calling to find out if you've ever seen milk that has a
darker color to it.

I assured him that I have and that mother's milk comes in all different
shades.

Dr. A: Well, that's good to know.

I asked him if he's calling because the mother was worried.

Dr. A: "Oh not anymore. I put her on Parlodel a few days ago."

It was one of these situations where you don't know if you want to laugh
or cry from the stupidity. This was after a entire morning of caring
for a badly engorged woman who's pediatrician told her to stop nursing
24 hours because the 4 day old infant has jaundice... AND because it is
the only way to cure sore nipples.
