I am in private practice only, so see mothers who are generally 
anxious about supply or sore nipples and/or frequent feeding.

I don't talk about growth spurts about talk about the need for 
frequent feeding and these may occur at different times as their baby 
develops and they become more aware of life around them.  This can be 
the small early changes of more calm wake times when all the baby 
wants to do is stare at their mum  to the more active times of 
hearing every new noise and having the ability to turn their head to 
look for what is making that noise.

I then talk about how we often seek out a mentor or a friend when 
learning a new skill or starting a new job and relate this to their 
baby wanting the support and comfort from mum as their brain learns 
to manage and use that new skill.
