Diane alerted us to the article in Breastfeeding Review entitled, "Therapeutic
Teat Use in Babies Who Breastfeed Poorly." There are a couple of other
articles that may be worthwhile reading if anyone is interested in following
up on this topic. They have their flaws however (one was supported by the
maker of artificial nipples), so one needs to read these with some caution.
There are a few kernels of information that may prove interesting, especially
the data on peak milk flow rates, suck strength, and volume per suck.
Breastfeeding Review is a great journal published twice a year by the Nursing
Mothers' Association of Australia. I have been a long time subscriber and the
current issue is packed with goodies!
