I must say I am disappointed to hear so many LCs are doing test weighs, and
so casually! Test weighing in some areas of Australia used to be the norm
many years ago - every breastfeeding mother had her infant test weighed and
then comped until the scale *proved* baby was getting the determined amount.
It was a long and hard fight to get rid of it and I would be extremely
reluctant to advertise the fact that LCs are using this to determine an
infants intake. Also, I recall reading an article (sorry, the memory
doesn't stretch to where from, but someone else may have it) where they test
weighed bottle fed infants and found weighing to be an inaccurate method of
determining intake.
In most cases I find a regular weigh and a check on output to cover most of
my concerns.
