Hello-

I am a new subscriber who's just been "watching" for a week, amazed at all of
your collective knowledge and experience. I don't know what things were like
"in the beginning", but this list seems civil always and usually very
supportive.

My concern as I read this note about the frequent night nurser was the
father's attitude. While I know for baby and mom's sake (both emotionally
and physiologically) that night nursings are important, if dad is getting
frustrated, eventually he could sabotage the feedings. We have a waterbed,
so co-sleeping was never an option, but I imagine my light-sleeping and
sleep-dependent husband, who was very supportive of BF, would have been
grumpy with frequent awakenings (I used to jump up out of bed and go to the
baby at the first sound to feed, so my husband usually didn't stir - and we
both agree he was spoiled :) )

How do those of you with experience deal with the dad in this situation? Is
there a compromise (trying to get the baby to go 3 hours, etc) , that could
help dad, so that he could still support mom?

Shauna Farmer, MD in Rome, GA (an FP, with a 6 yr old, 4 yr old and #3 on
the way - very supportive of BF, but realizing that I have a LOT to learn!)
