The other point is that we can discuss the fine points of diet on Lactnet,
but do we want the average American mother to think she can't BF unless she
eats perfectly? or takes expensive suplements?

I'm always telling teen moms to continue taking their prenatals (Medicaid
pays for them anyway), drink to thirst and she will make lots of milk even
if she mostly eats at Mickey D's!

The object is to get enough calories to make milk and enough vits so mom
isn't depleted.

We know that underfed moms in third world countries have babies who do
pretty well.  Ever seen some of the pixs of a skinny mom and her plump baby?
