Interesting post, Alicia, and informative.

But I don't think anyone is saying these scientists are evil.

The point is that consumers (mothers, babies) are not told the full story.

There is far too much questionable marketing out there  - we've seen
examples of it mentioned here on Lactnet. Mothers and health
professionals equate the fatty acids in these new formulas with the
fatty acids in breastmilk. Some even think they are the same things.

Research on the safety of formula and any new ingredients in it is
inadequate. As Maureen Minchin says, all use of formula is a massive
'in vivo experiment' on the most vulnerable human beings.

I think it behoves all of us to be very suspicious, cautious and sceptical.
