I have been a lurker for many years but thought I would write this
morning since no one else has made note of it. Did anyone see
Providence, an NBC television show on Friday nights in the US? Anyway,
last night, a sister who just had a baby was making dinner as a 6 month
birthday celebration for her daughter. She was making clam chowder from
her mother's recipe which her sister and brother had great distaste for.
Needless to say, expressed breastmilk was added to the clam chowder by
mistake and the whole family thought it was the most delicious chowder
that anyone ever had. The family was never told that the EBM was added
in! It was really well done and my kids thought it was great.
Anyway, to introduce myself, my name is Carol Chornock and I am an RN,
certified childbirth educator and lactation consultant in a suburb
outside of Washington, DC. I have been in maternal child health for
more than 10 years. I am married with three daughters - Becca age 8,
Lauren age 5 and Michaela age 7 months. Married to a emergency
medicine physician assistant, Lenny, who loves to wake me up early in
the am while he is on duty to make sure a certain medication is
breastfeeding acceptable. :)
Thanks for all the worthwhile info that I have learned throughout the
years and I am looking forward to more information as the years go on.
