Ann,
One thing that comes to mind is whether she has been tested for lupus
anticoagulant, anticardiolipin antibodies, thyroid deficiencies, ANA and
such.  It was recommended to me to take a baby aspirin every day of my
last pregnancy after 2 early miscarriages to be sure there wasnt a
clotting problem.  sounds to me like she needs more testing before
risking another pregnancy.  Breastfeeding can be a danger to a mother who
has other risk factors such as incompetent cervix, but this would present
much differently.
