If any of you have experience or information about jaundice that lasts for
weeks, could you please respond?

Asian mom and baby, babe is 6 weeks old, with a bili of 16. Eating well,
gaining, has a ventricular septal defect that will be watched until 1
year-- if not closed by then, they will do surgery.

Medically, could/is the heart defect be linked to the jaundice? If yes,
how? If not, excuse my ignorance!! How many of you have experience with
Asian families where the jaundice lasts past the immediate neonatal period?
Any other aspects to a dyad like this that I should be aware of?

I'm not worried about the breastfeeding, just was gathering information for
my own education.

Thank you!
