Hi All

I would like to share an experience I had with a breastfeeding dyad yesterday.

Mum rang to tell me that her baby had been power chucking, so I went visit thinking that it could be and oversupply problem or a gastro related virus

Mum was prescribed E-Mycin because of a wound infection, had been taking the antibotic for 3 days. Mum has a pencincillin allergy
I observed the baby breastfeeding, he was a little fussy at first but stayed feeding for 10 mins, Mum then sat him and burped him. A few second later he had 2 power chucks and then went floppy but recovered. I rang the Paediacrian for advice and he said advised me to send him to Starship (childrens Hospital) They did bloods test nothing showed on the bloods test, But the Peadicitrician feels the baby reacted to the antibotics the mum had been taking.
Has anyone had similar experience with a medication a mother has been taking.
I am now wondering if this baby will also have a allergy to certain antibotics like his mum
Thankyou for allowing me a steep learning curve about checking medications
