best? Avent does at least have a longer nipple, although it is flat at

Personally I am much better at disliking bottles than I am at
recommending them, so I don't have a particular brand to suggest. I feel
pretty strongly opposed to the Avent for the reasons I mentioned in my
earlier post but I'll defer to wiser heads than mine on alternatives.

Since I work in public health I am loathe to tell my clients to spend
money/go out and buy new bottles so I try to work with whatever else
they have in the house (besides Avent). What I hope for is something
the baby can take entirely in his mouth, down to/including the base.
Hopefully with a wide base as Catherine said and one with a slow flow.

In essence, my problem with Avent is that long nipple. The wide base
would be nice, if only babies could GET to it! But they can't, in my
experience, because the blasted nipple is so long that the average
newborn won't go there. Plus the shape of the thing tends to encourage
nipple pinching/biting - it narrows a bit just before the base widens
out. That is where a lot of my client's babies go - they head straight
for that. Then they look at mommy's breasts and......:::sigh:::

P.S. what really ticks me off are the pictures on Avent's website.
Scroll about halfway down:

The babies I see do NOT take the Avent bottle the way the one in this
picture does....
