Yes! I actually have some information on this.
Of course all body piercing should be done at a reputable place with
absolutely sterile equipment, the technician (piercer) should wear gloves
at all times, etc.
BUT-did you know that it takes the body quite some time to heal, so when
mom removes the jewelry to breastfeed, which is recommended by one such
reputable establishment here in groovy East Village, Manhattan, the hole
may close up. The hole should prbably be at least one year old before
removing the jewelry for any lenght of time (such as breastfeeding). The
initial healing period is at least three months during which time NO
ONE's mouth should come in contact with the site.
This information was given to me by a very helpful person who was very
willing to share his knoweldge and gave freely of his time.
I have permission to reprint the AAP News article on body piercing and
tatooing; this article is geared towards pediatricians who will be
advising adolescents on the pros and cons of body work of this kind...If
you would like a copy of the article, please write to me for my snail
address and then you can mail me an SASE.
Hope this was helpful. The next stage in my quest for knowledge on body
piercing and tatoos is my contact at a reputable tatoo parlor (if that's
what they are still called). The body piercing fellow gave me her name,
and I will contact her tomorrow. Hope she's as helpful as he was...Toldja
I was planning to become the expert on this subject!

who has two earring holes so far.....and that's it for now! Icouldn't
believe the amount of scar tissue that developed inside the earlobe. I
had my ears pierced when I was 28 (oh, that rebellious streak!! : ) ))(I
think this signifies double chin)
