Ruth is right.  PPTLs in our department are usually done within 1 hours after
delivery.  This means that as soon as the delivery is complete, mom's
preparation for surgery begins.  She often does not have an opportunity to
nurse her baby, because the anesthesiologist and surgeon are already there
for the delivery.  Very likely, the epidural catheter is already in place
from the labor epidural.  She returns from the O.R., her baby having been fed
and now in his sleepy period.  However, many women prefer this option even
though they are told that the surgery is less reliable at this time and
requires a more extensive procedure.  Bonnie Jones
