Hello Lactnetters,
I am seeking recent information about use of hydroxychloroquine during
lactation. I have been contacted regarding weaning by a mother who has lupus
and is nursing a 5 week old infant. I read her the information in Hale, 2002
edition. I also checked Hale's website for updates and found nothing. The
archives have two previous posts indicating it is safe, but this information
is supposed to be new. I also could not find anything on Medline. The woman's
doctors tell her they have newer information which says it is contraindicated
in nursing mothers. Any information would be appreciated. Please include your
permission to share it with the mother if you reply.
       Thank You,
Judy Gutowski, BA, LLL Leader, IBCLC
