Hello -- I am new to this list. I am the mother of two boys, ages 5 &
3. I work from my home and I am interested in eventually becoming a
certified lactation consultant.

Just recently, I found this woman's story, shared here and also on the
La Leche League website:

http://members.tripod.com/~Darillyn/

She has nursed 6 adopted children, and one of them began nursing near
her first birthday.

Personally, I would be reluctant to discourage an adoptive mother from
attempting to breastfeed an older baby. If nursing doesn't work out,
she's certainly no worse off for trying.
