Dear all:

I wish we ONLY worked in grams. Here's the bizarre thing I discovered today when a
mother was told her baby was off the charts. When graphed her baby on the WHO charts
her baby was fine.

But there are lots of different ways to calculate grams from ounces.

1) The CDC appears to use International Troy ounces at a conversion rate of 31.1
g/ounce. Wikipedia says this is for metals only.

2) Avoirdupois ounces convert at 28.3 g/ounce.

3) The Medela baby weigh scale converts at 35.2 g/ounce.

This really disrupts the curve.

Anyone have any explanations for the wide differences between 1) and 3)?

Best, Susan
