Hooray Liz, great note re Army Mom---as a military brat myself, I had very
mixed emotions about this issue (I think clear, from my previous post). And,
having got the copy of TIME and noted that Lt.C *admitted* that neither she
nor hubby used *birth control* as other couples in restrictive posts had done,
it is harder to sympathize with her completely.

Still, I believe we should comment to TIME, and to the Feds who will be trying
this case--to me it brings up the universal issue of Working Moms and the poor
support they get. You brought up some wonderful examples of how Moms will
stretch to cope, and we will need to balance the Negative publicity that this
case will generate by the fact that it is probably "using" breastfeeding :'<,
with support to the issue of the importance of breastfeeding, but also the
concept of Informed Consent--what 17 year old knows what he/she is giving up
by such a contract???? MOst people have little concept of what parenting is
like to start with, breastfeeding in particular.

Anyway, Liz, do you have any idea if this Lt worked with an LC such as
yourself?
