If her OB or Midwife considers having sex to be a factor in her miscarriages, then no, she should not breastfeed during a pregnancy. But if her OB or MIdwife says having sex is not in any way related to her miscarriages, then yes, she should continue breastfeeding the older baby / child is ready to graduate.
That's my general understanding. It is not related to the fact that she only had one period. Mostly, they never know why any given mother miscarried one baby and carried another.
I also understand that about one-fourth of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.
But every loss hurts. Wish her the best.

I have researched the archives and am still at a loss as to what to tell this mom.
Young woman who is breast feeding her 21 month old has just had her second miscarriage, her first occurred prior to her 21 month old but now she has had another miscarriage and is equally devastated. She wants to know if she should wean prior to trying to get pregnant again. The other thing is she has only had one menstrual cycle since having her 21 month old.

Thank you so much for any info you can give me to help this mom.
