Hi All! Terriann Shell (Big Lake, AK) and Kym Smythe (New Castle, DE)
sitting here lactnetting together in DE...

Both our discussions and the Dateline piece seem to miss a critical
issue. Breastfeeding is more than just feeding breastmilk. What about
the nuturing? That seems to be an important factor for Emma, though we
haven't heard her articulate it well. Most of the conversation also
neglects the baby's best interest.

I found it very frustrating that Dateline never showed us Emma's reponse
to the Army's offering her a change of duty and 2 and 1/2 hour breaks.
I am curious about that one?

Yes, Barbara, Emma did make a commitment when she accepted her
appointment to West Point. So did David Robinson, NBA basketball star,
when he accepted his appointment to Annapolis (US Naval Academy).
Robinson was released from his obligation to pursue his NBA career. In
his case, the Navy also considered allowing him to interrupt his service
until the end of his pro basketball career. Which of these two has a
more selfless, valuable goal?

There are lots of games played with things like this in the military.
Seems like there may be some inequities here.
