Last year when my oldest son (dreaming of being a Peds MD) was in the 8th
grade his science teacher tried to improve on the text book and cover BF but
much to Paul's disappointment he knew more than the teacher. He asked me to
talk to the teacher so I worte a nice letter thanking the teacher for his
efforts and being strong enough to cover this material. Along with the letter
I sent him updated material and offered to answer any questions he might
have. He was so delighted that he asked me to teach the class this year (BF).
Another suggestion to get the word out to our students is that we get
involved at the local schools. The hospital that I am the LC at is contacting
the local school district to see if we could get involved in the Jr/Sr High
classes on parenting and /or health issues you can bet BF will be included.
JACHO which accredidates the hospitals here in the US is really big on your
community involvement and this is one way of meeting this requirement.
