If you have visited the IBLCE home page recently, you may have noted that
the date for completion of the role delineation study has been extended. This
is because only 60% of those mailed forms have replied. Because not everyone
was polled (it was decided that not everyone had to be asked about her job
functions to determine what the average IBCLC's work responsibilities and
knowledges were --too costly and too time consuming), this smaller n was
designated.

It is this information which serves to update the Blueprint and designate
the number of questions from each area which will appear on the exam, you the
know one--the one that 96% of this year's applicants passed.

I personally feel that this is unfair and that EVERY IBCLC should have been
given the opportunity to participate in this important survey of job
responsibilities. There is a reason why the score pass rates keep going up and if we
are concerned about this, then participating in the survey will provide
valuable information to the Board and their statistician.

I urge you to contact IBLCE immediately to request that you be provided a
copy of this survey. The extension date was to have been today, but I have no
idea how close to the percentage needed was actually collected, so go for it
if you want a voice.
