Mother with baby of nearly three weeks has "untouchable nipples" so sensitive to touch that she cannot bear feeding or pumping. I suspect thrush although there are no external signs, because even between feeds she has shooting pains through breast and nipples. Unfortunately, she went to two doctors, a skin doctor, a gyny who knows little about bf and has got very confused. They are not sure that she has thrush but suggest treatment anyway.
She has had various suggestions for meds and I would like to ask Lactnetters what is recommended in your experiences for persistent thrush and what are effects of these meds on infant?
Thanks
Wendy Blumfield Israel
