I have a saying that applies to this situation, "There but for the grace of
god..." The time and energy that is spent on Dr. Sears would far better be
spent on waging a campaign against the infant formula industry. Who enticed
and used this good man? Would we be so above it all that if we were offered
financial safety (which, of course, doesn't really exist) that we would
refuse it? I don't think we can know what we would do until we have "walked
in someone else's shoes!"

Where is our righteous indignation against the industries that have
manipulated a health care system world-wide? An industry that takes some of
our brightest and best advocates and uses them to destroy breastfeeding? This
is like castigating mothers for not breastfeeding and not realizing that it
is this industry that needs castigating not the mothers!

I think many people on this list still do not understand what this is all
about. This is about getting people to accept the genetic engineering of
infant formula. I believe I showed this list the patent to DHA. This is
what we, Americans, do with new and improved products. We get a well-know
person to pitch its benefits to the public--just think about all the movie
stars, athletes who represent various products. If we all are concerned
about this turn of events, we need to focus on the real culprits. The real
culprits are not only the infant formula industries but a government that has
allowed business interests to become government interest. Valerie W.
