I agree - nurses in the doctor's office are used to administering vaccines on the table with the baby/child restrained.  Suggesting a different method is going to be seen as out of routine to them.  When nursing my infants during shots, the nurses were always amazed at how effective it was - and really so much easier for them as well to not have a screaming, fidgeting target.  But until they see it, they will probably be skeptical.

This carries through in the hospitals as well at deliveries - so much easier and convenient for staff to tend to baby after birth from the baby buckets that from mom's belly.... convenience and routine unfortunately win out.
