At 16 mo I'd venture a guess that s/he isn't eating enough iron rich foods.
Toddlers this age sometimes drink too much milk (mom's or otherwise) and
don't eat much food. Breast milk isn't designed to provide enough iron in
the 2nd year of life. S/He probably needs a supplement for a while and
increased iron rich foods. I don't think it has anything to do with
his/her intestines :-) Just typical toddler stuff. Drinking milk is
quicker and easier than feeding yourself and then you can get down and play
sooner LOL ! Pat in SNJ
