Doctors and other healthcare professionals here in the UK are now
apparently more likely to report colleagues for investigation, and
new procedures and laws are in place.

Why?

Because of the biggest serial killer in UK history, Dr Harold
Shipman, who murdered an unknown number of patients over a period of
about 30 years (officially it was 215 patients he killed, but there
are several hundred other cases which have not been fully
investigated). Dr S killed himself before his trial so never faced a
court. Medical colleagues over the years mumbled and muttered about
him, but nothing was ever done until a local undertaker decided
something was amiss :(

Now, of course, it is a big leap from suspecting your colleague of
actively killing people, and complaining about dreadful infant
feeding advice, but we know that formula is a direct cause of
increased mortality and morbidity.

The big gap in medical knowledge is accepting that formula is an
intervention and it is a Big Deal to give it, and that colleagues who
routinely advise it need investigating.

I'm sorta hoping this will happen, and docs will start reporting for
inappropriate feeding advice, now that they can report more easily.

Not that I am holding my breath......
