I did not mean to suggest that postpartum bf moms are at elevated risk for
thyroid storm, I only know one woman who had this condition during lactation.
 She is a nurse and knew she was very ill and got herself to the ER in time to
avoid sequelae.  Other thyroid conditions do seem to be elevated in postpartum
women, breastfeeding or not.  We seem to identify them earlier in
breastfeeding women, because of the effect on milk supply.  Another benefit of
breastfeeding!
