This reminds me of the time when I was going through genetic counseling for
miscarriages and the doctor has aggressively tried to talk me into
"preventative bilateral mastectomy". I was 30 years old at the time. Granted
I have a history of breast cancer on both sides of my family but I do not
have the disease itself. The doctor told me it is ether your boobs or your
life.
Now, ten years later, I have breastfed 4 more kids and breastfeeding the 5Th
one. My breasts are not a decoration, they are a vital part of me, designed
to do they're job.
Same doctor at the same time tried to talk me into a hysterectomy, just in
case.
What offends me most is the tone of the article, as in "of course WE know
what is more important..." and the fact that it is to be used on healthy
women.
And by the way lots of us have babes later in our 40ties. It is normal
nowadays.
The message "Your milk or your life" is pretty scary.
