Dear Friends

I am now in my new job here at UNICEF Sarajevo (contact details below) having
moved from my Professor of Public Health post at the University of Queensland in
Australia. The move has meant that I have been lurking for a couple of months.
I will probably post privately after this message until I sort out the official
UN line on E-mail discussion participation as a UN staff member.

I am a medical doctor who has moved ever sideways from clinical work into
policy, social issues and public health. Over the last 3 years in Australia my
main research interest was in breastfeeding and I also had a clinical practice
for at risk youth (by the way in case anyone remembers my posts on the IV drug
using breastfeeding teenage mother and her baby, in the end we did have to
intervene and the baby was taken in foster care with visiting rights for the
mother).

So this is just to say that I am back on line and still as enthusiastic as ever.

Now a side issue tacked onto this message.

One of my projects involves building and supporting playrooms in hospitals.
Bosnian hospitals remain places where patients stay in beds, babies stay in
nurseries, doctors stay in charge and so on. We have done six play rooms and
training in hospitals so far and it is now time for an external evaluation. I am
looking for any contacts of organizations or individuals (anywhere in the world)
who have expertise in this area who can send me information, offer advice and
one person who can spend 4 / 6 weeks on this before Christmas with 2 weeks
mission in Bosnia. As this is not directly on topic, can you e-mail me
privately.

Many thanks, great to be back, hope you are all well.

Dr Mary E Black
