Hi Lactnetters,

I am throwing this question out to anyone who can help me. The current
literature and fellow members on this service agree that many psychotropic
drugs are safe with breastfeeding, with all factors considered.
Recomendations are to advise moms of the benefits and the risks. For some
medication, such as Lithium, close monitoring of baby's plasma levels is
recomeded. Of the other medications should baby's plasma levels be checked?
And how often should they be checked?
What should we tell moms regarding the concentration of antidepressents in
the CNS? And does this mask true plasma ratios?
Thanks for any help. Feel free to e-mail me privately.
