It is just possible her milk sinuses are deeper on that side than the
other, and neither the baby nor the pump has ever been adequately
draining them, which has led to milk staying in the breast, which signals
the breast not to produce at the same rate as the other, well-drained
side.

(You can test for the location of the milk sinuses by attempting the
Marmet method of hand expression on the areola at 1 ", 1 1/2", 2", and 2
1/2", behind the base of the nipple. If you get squirts, or easy drops by
compressing further away, you have your answer.)

It then may help to substitute the largest (glass) flange Medela makes,
as the pump flange she uses on the smaller side. The more thoroughly and
frequently milk is removed, the sooner that side may build up its supply.
