My experience is the same as Leah's. I think it is even more common to
see this in mothers who breastfeed more than one child long-term. Some
of these mothers seem to have short luteal phases or other hormonal
states that prevent pregnancy from occuring or being sustained -- many
of the same women who, before their cycles resume, express interest in
having another child, end up being unable to conceive or having very
early miscarriages.
I thought I was breaking my own record when I went well past two years
(with my singleton), had two heavy cycles (around months 28 and 29) and
then stopped again... 37 months and counting. It might be menopause,
though.
There were posts on this thread (related to duration of breastfeeding /
pregnancy / "LAM" (in quotations because Rachel will tell me it isn't
LAM in the third year!) about a year ago. (Vague, vague, possibly
perimenopausal...)
