I need your assistance asap on this one. I have a mom with an 8 month old
who still breastfeeds fairly frequently. She (the mother) was bitten
yesterday by a dog who is now in quarantene to determine if it is rabid. She
immediately stopped breastfeeding and called to ask if this is necessary.

I have never come across this question before, and in searching the archives
came across one item which stated that there are no anticipated problems
with continued BF when the mother is taking the rabies vaccine. Can I
assume that there is also no problem in continuing BF while the mother is
waiting to see if the dog is rabid?

Your prompt replies are most appreciated by this mom and her poor 8 month
old who would really love to get back to the breast asap.

Thanks
