hi ann
wow! six sons! that is great! i bet you get the line about the baseball team
or basketball team, don't you?

re the mom of multiples who doesn't seem very motivated to provide exclusive
bf. this can be tough. with any client, i try to find out their goals, then
i offer info and options, as you have already done, and then allow them to
decide what they will do. i take the mom at face value, if she says she
wants to increase her supply, for example. but then again once you give her
the plan, it is up to her to implement it. realize though that it is much
easier to say to a mom "you need to pump 8x/24hrs" than it is for the mom to
actually IMPLEMENT this. sometimes you need to continue to f/u to help her
implement the plan, like help her locate a pump etc.
sometimes you have to walk a fine line, which you are now doing, between
encouragement/support and 'pushing too hard' (i guess you could call it
that). anyway, once i perceive that it's me that's excited and motivated and
not the mom, then i back off and say something like call me when if you need
me. often moms call in with problems but will not come in for consult which
is what is really needed. i just keep offering what advice i can and cont.
to recommend the consult.
