I hope you are still with us Winnie for these last few posts. Many of us
feel the pain you are going through but would love to give you encouragement to
still find enjoyment in this job before retirement.
I am sure there are more mothers who have found your assistance valuable then
the ones in the past who have complained. Being careful of what you say is
not necessarily "wimping out". No matter where we go there is the chance of
meeting someone who just can't be pleased.
If we are asked to see a patient and the encounter is less than positive, it
is always important to document everything you said and did and then the
mother's response. Then seek out the nurse involved with the patient and let her
know what just transpired.
I also hope you will find a way to stay with us on LACTNET. Your wisdom and
insight is very valuable.
On this note of conflicts at work I wanted everyone to know I heard back from
IBLCE regarding recertification and the question of conflicts. They said
this would be a written complaint that has been sent on to review. This would
not include patients unhappy with us. I did review out rules of ethics. It was
good for me to read them and helps to give me that pause when I get wrapped
up in a case.
Take care, Winnie.
