Frank, congratualations to you as you work hard to get information out
there about medications and lactation. It is great to have another
credible resource for professional use. I believe that you are
right...on the last statement regarding a live mother on antidepressants
is better than a dead mom who cannot mother or breastfeed..etc. I add
to this...in that it is better to continue breastfeeding on medication
than to wean ....as many mothers are instructed. On top of severe
depression, etc, they have to face the ramifications of losing their
breastfeeding ability, and all that this entails, psychologically.
Forced weaning adds insult to injury in many cases, and is unnecessarily
brutal.
